Put this up outside my office at school as a work in progress. The wallpaper is cyanotyped with images ranging from the scene in I Love Lucy—where her and Ethel are stuffing food into their pockets and mouths— to images of buildings such as Bank of America and GM.
Inspired by Shelby Lee Adams’ Appalachian portraits, I collaged digital negatives of iconic imagery together to create cultural wallpaper. Adams’ subjects line the interior of their homes with magazines for insulation and reading material. For this project interested in how the effect media has on our personal lives.
My name is Adam, I'm a photography professor, and I make things. I also edit a photography mag called
