rip Larry Sultan

The photographs Sultan made of his family remind me Tom Fishers lecture at the last SPE in Dallas. In the lecture, Fisher progressed from his images out West and spoke about photographing his family at their retirement home in Arizona(?). He mentioned Sultan as a reference to the body of work. Sultan speaks directly about his 6 year journey of photographing his family in this interview by NPR -really beautiful stuff. And I just love these images….

Your post made me do a double take and had to google to confirm that he passed away. Shocks and saddens me. He's one of my favorite photographers too.
