ECU holiday sale
The holiday sale is approaching, Monday actually. This annual event consists of every guild in the School of Art and Design getting together and selling their prints, wares and…um, cookies. It’s interesting because the students spend all their time in the studio and then emerge with commodities—art as commercial product—something I’m really interested in doing more of but for the purpose of subverting the commercial moment. I’ve realized what a craft school this is through the items/concepts people sell, it’s no Claus Oldenburg store. Anyway, I’ll be selling t-shirts and inkjet prints on cyanotype… some do that subversion thingy and others are meant to sell, like the old bicycle man and cat on a buffalo… which are needless to say, priceless.
